The South East Regional Empowerment Partnership has unfortunately ceased to act as of 31st March.

However the Partnership leaves a lasting legacy of empowerment practice and tools that can be accessed via their website

The South East Regional Empowerment Partnership was the SE arm of the National Empowerment Partnership supported by DCLG through the Community Development Foundation, The South East Rural Community Councils (SERCC) is the accountable body for SEREP.

What is Community Empowerment?
Community empowerment is about enabling people to shape what happens in their lives and their communities, in the services and decisions that affect them.

Government can't solve everything by itself, and nor can the community: it's better when we work together.

"You can call it liberalism. You can call it empowerment. You can call it freedom. You can call it responsibility. I call it the Big Society”
David Cameron, Prime Minister

The Government wants to give citizens, communities and local government the opportunities, information and framework they need to come together, solve the problems they face and build the Britain we want.   They want a Big Society where people and communities take more power  and responsibility so that there is fairness and opportunity for all.
